Stanley Black and Decker Continuous Improvement Lead - 1st shift, $24hr in Shelby, Ohio

Position Summary:

The Continuous Improvement Lead is responsible for supporting and encouraging a Lean Culture within Stanley Black & Decker, Shelby Operations. They will utilize lean principles while facilitating, leading and/or participating in RI events or Kaizen Blitz Activities, handling special projects and training associates on lean concepts. This is a development role for future leaders that will include a development plan with milestones and would expect growth into other roles. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure event teams success through use of positive facilitation skills, including but not limited to: collaboration amongst team members, active participation by all team members, maintaining team focus on specific goals and scope, and positive energy exertion to keep team members excited and engaged

  • Resolves problems using Lean Tools, technologies, or concepts.

  • Collects and prepares data for Rapid Improvement Events, Kaizen Blitz Activities or Projects.

  • Facilitate and train personnel in the effective use of tools and principals of Continuous Improvement.

  • Implements projects generated by Value Stream Analysis and supports A3 and A4 creation.

  • Assist with preparation and follow-up for Rapid Improvement Events and Kaizen Blitz Activities.

  • Leads and facilitates Rapid Improvement Teams and Kaizen Blitz Activities.

  • Functions as a RIE team member on both RIEs or Kaizen Blitz Activities.

  • Assist in the maintenance of visual controls.

  • Performs internal audits per the ISO requirements and sustain audits on all events for at least the first 90 days of implementation.

  • Maintain the Continuous Improvement databases.

  • Facilitate ISO Standard Work development, maintenance, and document control of the process.

  • Responsible for daily 6S activities, such as housekeeping, maintaining an organized and safe work area, and other appropriate paperwork/check sheets.

  • Other duties as assigned

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities in all daily activities or as assigned

  • Ability to work overtime and varied shifts as required.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Access

  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to learn Lean and TPS tools (Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Standard Work, KanBan, and others)

  • Ability to work, succeed, and contribute in a team environment

  • Must be comfortable presenting in front of groups

  • Ability to remain focused while managing multiple tasks

Experience/Educational Requirements:

  • On-going learning expected which would include, but not limited to LinkedIn Learning, Lean Manufacturing, and communication/presentation skills. A development plan with milestones and expectations will be a part of your yearly goals.

Additional Experience/Educational Requirements:

  • High school Diploma or GED required.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work within a factory and office environment
