You will be part of the 9th Air Force (9AF) United States Air Force Central Command (AFCENT), which is the Air Force Service Component of United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), a joint Department of Defense combatant command responsible for U.S. security interests in 27 nations that stretch from the Horn of Africa through the Persian Gulf region, into Central Asia. This position supports the 9th A.F. Operations Directorate (A3).

In this role, you will:

  • Provide operational planning expertise to assist in future deliberate steady-state and contingency operational planning.

  • Provide operational planning expertise to assist in current crisis action planning.

  • Provide analysis and technical input recommendations to 9AF AFCENT WARNORD, OPLAN, OPORD, and FRAGO guidance and other plans, utilizing CENTCOM and HAF guidance. In addition, you will keep the existing projects and orders up to date and executable and coordinate with external agencies as required, including Army Central Command (ARCENT), CENTCOM, CAOC, and others.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to operations planners for operations, activities, and investments (OAIs).

  • Facilitate Component Operational Planning Teams and coordinate across 9AF AFCENT functional areas and Air Expeditionary Wings on the Operation Orders (OPORDs).

  • Assist with updating/developing OPG guidance for 9 A.F. (9AF AFCENT) and informed CENTCOM of 9 A.F. (9AF AFCENT) initiatives, including creating products to update senior leaders.

  • Solicit OAI feedback from A9 and cross-functional representatives to facilitate the inclusion of lessons learned into planning considerations.

  • Capture essential information and lessons during planning.

  • Record minutes for discussions with the Commander, Air Forces (COMAFFOR)/Combined Forces, and Air Component Commander (CFACC) to ensure OPG follows commander guidance.

  • Compile, organize, and post information such as OPG updates, briefings, and other administrative tasks.

  • Use information technology tools (C2IE, C2IMERA, TMT, etc..) to build and maintain web-pages, overlay briefs, and draft orders.

  • Support 9AF AFCENT/A3 personnel in response to routine suspense and staff inquiries as they apply to 9AF AFCENT/USCENTCOM OPG, Air Planning Group (APG), and general/broader office management and processes (such as Division-level tasker management) when required.

  • Assist in developing, for government production and distribution, written documentation (e.g., 9AF AFCENT policy letters, letters of instruction, business rules, etc..), which enhance the understanding of 9AF AFCENT/USCENTCOM OAI planning and execution.

  • Comply with all staff policies IAW the current versions of AFI 13-103, Air Force Forces(AFFOR) Staff Operations, Readiness and Structures and H.Q. 9AF AFCENT and H.Q. 9AFAFCENT/A3 policies and guidance.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An active DoD TS/SCI clearance.

  • Bachelor's Degree in any subject

  • OR a High School diploma AND five (5) years experience on an NAF or higher-level staff

  • Three (3) years experience in the following areas:

  • Working air operations plans/programs in a Component-Numbered AF, HHQ staff position, or other service equivalent.

  • Using Microsoft Office applications, e-mail systems, and Task Management Tool or the equivalent

  • A USCENTCOM operational environment, including deliberate and crisis action planning

  • 1 year experience in the use of C2IE, C2IMERA, or equivalent database tools

  • Ability to travel internationally 25% as requested.

  • Active U.S. passport.

  • Ability to meet visa requirements as requested.
