BASIC FUNCTION:Supervises all activities of yard, including personnel and equipment, schedules delivery and unloading of materials, verifies accuracy of deliveries and receipts of merchandise. Supervises housekeeping of yard and warehouse and maintenance of equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all equipment is checked out each morning and paperwork is completed.
  • Inspects loads before they leave the yard and determines that sales ticket and material all match.
  • Reports out of stock items, surplus items, and damaged items.
  • Notifies General Manager of shortages or damage of incoming merchandise.
  • Enters receiving into computer.
  • Maintains accurate records of all transactions, special orders, backorders, and credits due, etc.
  • Maintains accurate shipping logs, including destination, time out, time in, etc.
  • Maintains good relations and morale of employees and customers.
  • Supervises Truck Drivers and Customer Service/Forklift Operators.
  • Turns in timecards and schedules vacations.
  • Supervises housekeeping and stock of yard.
  • Supervises handling of customers in yard and warehouse.
  • Supervises and tallies incoming shipments and compares with vendor's delivery copy.
  • Schedules deliveries and pickups for credit.
  • Schedules loading and unloading of trucks on the yard.
  • Ensures drivers log in all loads.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

Supervisory skills and experience are a must.

Administrative skills including assigning work, discipline, evaluating, planning, selection/termination, supervision, and training.

Math skills including calculating.

Above average reading and writing skills.

Interpersonal skills

Computer skills
