UPMC Cardiac Monitor Tech. in Seneca, Pennsylvania

Shift: Typically evening (and occasional night shifts)

Hours: Typically, 28 hours/week

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining strict patient confidentiality.

  • Provide continuous visual monitoring of cardiac rhythms, ensuring 100% accuracy in dysrhythmia recognition, alarm management, and prompt communication with appropriate personnel.

  • Provide flexibility to cover subsequent shifts when staffing levels are inadequate.

  • Clearly explain procedures to patients and hospital personnel, gather relevant patient history, and ensure proper positioning and preparation for Holter monitor procedures.

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment, monitor supply inventory, and notify management of required repairs or replenishments.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience:

  • Prior experience in cardiac telemetry monitoring or EKG is preferred.

  • Experience in a clinical or diagnostic cardiac healthcare setting, ideally hospital-based, is desired.

  • Skills:

  • Documented proficiency in recognizing cardiac dysrhythmias.

  • Ability to successfully complete a hospital-provided dysrhythmia course with a score of 90% or higher upon hire.

  • Basic keyboarding skills necessary to operate diagnostic equipment.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required within 30 days of hire, meeting American Heart Association standards (including both didactic and skills demonstration components).

  • Background as a Cardiac Technician, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic is highly desirable.
