Seldovia Village Tribe Prevention Program Director - Seldovia in Seldovia, Alaska
**Introduction
The Prevention Program serves our community through targeted programming, education, events, outreach, and community engagement efforts. Our program focuses on weaving moral integrity, personal strength, cultural awareness, community service, and environmental stewardship into the daily lives of those we serve. This position reports to the SVT President/CEO.
**Position Overview
The Prevention Program Director develops, organizes and administers the Prevention Program of Seldovia Village Tribe. This position is responsible for the implementation of program goals, oversight of progress, development and growth, and maintenance of existing offerings.
Duties and Responsibilities**
- Supervise the development and planning of community focused efforts to provide activities, events, education, and other outreach.
- Support the management of an internal calendar of activities, events, education, and other outreach.
- Coordinate with external resources and agencies to conduct program efforts
- Build relationships with community members we serve through an effective and dependable presence as a positive influence and role model
- Build awareness of Tribal programs and services through consistent maintenance of relationships with community leaders and organizations, education system, judicial system and healthcare providers. Developing new relationships with organizations through outreach and community engagement.
- Highlight, collaborate on, guide, and support community outreach effort by all departments.
- Provide mentorship and effective supervision of all directly reporting staff
- Work alongside peers and other departments to conduct a holistic and supported program
- Prepare and administer program budget as approved by the Tribal Council
- Ensure program efforts meet requirements and compliance with grants, regulations, protocols, and requirements.
- Conduct record keeping for programs
- Seek new funding opportunities to support current or future programming within scope of Prevention Program, as needed. Work alongside Grant staff in the development of grant applications.
- Participate on internal and external committees as assigned.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and planning meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Required Qualifications
High school Diploma, GED, or equivalent 5+ years' experience working in community directed programs, youth programs, community engagement activities. Mandatory Reporter Training, required CPR/First aide training, required
**Preferred Qualifications
Must understand community history, dynamics, and interests. Requires the ability to work with all ages

**Work Environment
Seldovia Village Tribe is a drug-free, alcohol-free, and tobacco-free work environment. An individual in this position may be exposed to communicable diseases or hazards common to a childcare setting. Work environment may be noisy. Some work outdoors where exposure to natural elements including but not limited to sunlight, rain, wind, and insects may take place.
