About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:

As a Production Support Technician , you can propel your career in the production of large diesel engines and generators that power the world. This role is designed to provide early-career talent with hands-on industry experience, making it an ideal opportunity for recent graduates looking to begin their careers within manufacturing.

What you will do:

  • Perform duties associated with the production of Caterpillar diesel engines and generators

  • Report to Production Managers and be assigned to departments within the business to meet customer and company demands

  • Align and secure engine components as directed by work instruction

  • Align and install gaskets, seals, bearings, hoses, covers, and visual components

  • Ensure that parts and materials used in the assembly process are free from quality defects

  • Verify and correct alignment of engine components using engine schematics and part prints

  • Operate forklifts, tuggers, and other power equipment to move materials within the facility 

  • Deliver, pick, move, and remove materials accurately and efficiently 

  • Submit and assist with the resolution of Continuous Improvement Cards

  • Follow standard operating procedures and area-specific work instructions

  • All other duties as assigned

What you will have:

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Recently completed high school (class of 2025 or equivalent) or be on track to graduate by May 2025

  • Willingness to learn and operate power equipment

  • Ability to work well with others

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English

  • Willingness to work a set schedule including overtime when needed

What would make you a top candidate:

  • Industry certification and/or completed a Career and Technical Educational (CTE) Relevant Program in High School

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive operations

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Shift Opportunities:

  • 1st Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00AM-4:30PM. Overtime as required.

  • 2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday, 4:30PM-3:00AM. Overtime as required.

Additional Information:

  • $17.50 hourly pay rate

  • 10% 2nd Shift Premium

  • Safety shoe allowance up to $150

  • Provided uniforms and personal protective equipment
