Amazon Vendor Manager, Amazon in Seattle, Washington

Take your career to the next level by joining the Retail Video Games team at Amazon. We’re looking for a customer obsessed, analytical and innovative individual to join us as a Senior Vendor Manager. This role will own the P&L for the largest names across video game companies.

You will utilize a wide range of skills and work across major functional areas such as inventory management, marketing, merchandising, pricing, operations, and finance to drive the performance of these strategic categories and vendor partners.

Key job responsibilities

• Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets by executing annual and ongoing terms negotiations

• Have a thorough understanding of the industry, seasonality and business trends/events, and continually monitor competitor/industry developments

• Maximize Amazon’s business and financial profitability through selection expansion opportunities

• Have a complete understanding of the customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to advocate for and drive delivery of site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience

• Build vendor/brand relationships - be the primary point of contact for vendor selection on-boarding, escalations and negotiations.

• Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, while meeting tight deadlines

• Have a complete understanding (inclusive of the strategic context) of internal and external variables that impact your business. This includes owning forecasting, analyzing, understanding and reporting on the business.

A day in the life

The successful candidate will be able to take their broad skill set and experience across multiple facets of a retail business (e.g., buying/vendor management, product management, operations, finance, marketing/merchandising) to identify and create growth opportunities. They will be able to deliver results at both a strategic and tactical level across all aspects of the business to innovate to achieve long-term growth. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to move on to other leadership roles within Amazon.

As a Vendor Manager, you will have accountability for the business results for your product categories. Your direct responsibility will be to manage performance of the product portfolio including developing and growing vendor relationships, negotiating terms and contracts, expanding product selection and vendor base, setting prices, developing marketing programs, driving sales and margin improvements and creating best-in-class customer experiences.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of with Excel experience

  • 5+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and delivering results experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of professional or military experience

  • Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large data sets and utilizing to drive performance and process improvements

  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
