Role Summary
Splunk is looking for a committed Senior Product Manager to build and scale SPL2, the next generation of Splunk’s Search Processing Language (SPL). This Product Manager will own SPL2’s development and strategy for Splunk’s streaming analytics products.
You will work hand-in-hand with cross-functional execution teams to prioritize high-value use cases and drive adoption. Your proficiency in distilling technical concepts and communicating them to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences will accelerate SPL2 go-to-market. Since your solutions will integrate with the entire Splunk portfolio, you will build a comprehensive knowledge of customer challenges and drive partner teams to align on and deliver a unified strategy!
A Product Manager in this role will thrive if they are tenacious in pursuing the right solution for customers, and curious about solving complex technical problems. This area will be a key value driver as the Splunk portfolio expands, and will directly empower customers to manage platform complexity while crafting innovative solutions of their own.
What you’ll get to do
Own the entire platform language strategy for Splunk’s Data Management portfolio of streaming and data preparation tools
Synthesize varied internal and external customer feedback across different products and domains to build common solutions that can serve more than one use case
Engage with customers and field teams to understand needs, and develop product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for proposed improvements
Collaborate with engineers and architects to brainstorm solutions and define clear success criteria
Partner with engineering teams across Splunk to deliver capabilities based on a common technical strategy
Develop technical go-to-market collateral and communicate language strategy to field teams to enable product-led growth at scale
Must-have Qualifications
Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a minimum of 3 years of product management experience and a Bachelor's degree
Deep technical background with a solid understanding of Java, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages
Proven track record of leading a platform area, and managing priorities while serving multiple internal clients and external customers
Experience interacting with software administrators, cloud operations teams, and technical architects to synthesize clear requirements
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with an ability to convey product strategy as well as technical details succinctly and clearly
Nice-to-have Qualifications
We’ve taken special care to separate the must-have qualifications from the nice-to-haves. “Nice-to-have” means just that: Nice. To. Have. So, don’t worry if you can’t check off every box. We’re not hiring a list of bullet points–we’re interested in the whole you.
Familiarity in building features for stream processing solutions
Experience leading highly technical go-to-market motions
Passion for solving challenging technical problems and building enterprise products with intuitive user experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a closely related field
