Job Information

Amazon Software Development Manager, Weblab Engineering in Seattle, Washington

Description

As one of the most-used services at amazon, Weblab is at the heart of billions of dollars in product decisions. Your favorite feature on an Amazon.com website or the iOS and Android apps was probably tested and launched using Weblab. Amazon retail, Music, Prime, Alexa, Seller Central, and many other groups use Weblab every day to change how the world shops, sells, reads, learns, plays, chills out, and grooves out.

We are seeking a skilled and creative SDM to help shape the future of Amazon's favorite experimentation platform.

Key job responsibilities

  • Hiring and developing the best.

  • We're a small team with a very large customer base. Lowering overhead and scaling more efficiently is key.

  • Work closely with internal partners to envision, build and deliver key features.

  • Supporting our Science roadmap to unleash amazing new features.

  • Make it super easy for customers to add new business metrics to be used in experiment analysis.

  • Ensure all data has high quality. Drive data quality upstream, but, most importantly, make sure no bad data goes through and is used in an experiment analysis.

  • Create tools to make it dead simple for customers to see and inspect their data to help them troubleshoot issues and reach conclusions independently of us.

  • Explore this rich dataset. Provide insights. There's a lot of low hanging fruit, but we've not even uncovered the tip of the iceberg. Derive amazing new insights to help drive the quality and improve experimentation outcomes at Amazon. Make it simple for leaders or anyone with access to see how their experiment portfolio is performing.

  • Work closely with our partners to ensure they're well served and can generate the reports they need to remain accountable to their leadership.

A day in the life

  • Sprint planning or stand.

  • Conduct ops review to ensure things are running smoothly from an operations perspective.

  • 1:1s with direct reports and key partners.

  • Plan and write docs. Review with partners. Get support.

  • Review code and participate in design reviews.

  • Build and deliver amazing stuff.

About the team

We're designing and working to deliver the next generation of product-experimentation systems. Along the way, we're going to ask and answer seemingly impossible questions. Together, we'll build solutions that are better than anything any one of us can come up with alone. We'll make tough decisions, but we'll all understand why. We'll be the dream team.

We value smarts over skills. If you are technically competent, know the basics of building highly scalable and accessible data systems and have the capacity to dig deeper and learn more, you could be a great fit with our team.
