Consumer Electronics Technology (CE Tech) is hiring a Software Development Manager to lead our Engineering Excellence team. CE Tech is innovating how customers shop for electronics, digital video games, warranties, wireless plans, bundles, renewed products, and more!

We're seeking a passionate Software Development Manager to build and lead a new team of engineers who don't just write code – they craft elegant, scalable systems that are secure, resilient, and have best-in-class operational health and quality. As a leader of the CE Tech Engineering Excellence team, you'll be at the forefront of modernizing and revolutionizing our backend services and technology. You'll mentor and guide engineers in delivering multi-team initiatives that benefit customers while working with the latest technologies and setting new standards for engineering excellence. What you’ll do:

• Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team that deliver best-in-class solutions

• Drive technical strategy and roadmap planning across multiple teams and initiatives

• Champion engineering excellence, quality standards, and security best practices

• Partner with engineering leaders to align technical initiatives with business objectives

• Lead organizational transformation in modernizing our technology stack and practices

• Establish technical standards and best practices across the organization

• Oversee the modernization of aging systems into scalable, resilient, and secure systems that are kept up to date with the latest standards

• Drive adoption of emerging technologies and innovative solutions

• Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning

• Provide technical mentorship and career development opportunities

• Balance team workload and resource allocation across multiple projects

• Create opportunities for engineers to grow their technical and leadership skills

• Create positive relationships with key stakeholders across the organization

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
