Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Release Manager in Seattle, Washington

Description

Release Manager is a deployment orchestration tool for dynamic configuration. Teams within Amazon use Release Manager to quickly and safely change the dynamic configuration values that define their software's behavior.

We are looking for an engineer with a strong sense of ownership who consistently delivers high quality and operationally excellent results in a challenging and technically rewarding space.

As an SDE2 on this team, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and operational support of the Release Manager service. You will be required to solve hard distributed systems problems by bringing innovation and invention to your work across a diversity of environments and use cases.

About the team

Amazon's eCommerce Foundation organization provides the core technologies that power and drive Amazon's consumer experiences. The Release Manager team, part of the eCommerce Foundation team, owns a configuration deployment tool that brings safety, speed, and operational maturity to Amazon's control planes. Our tools support critical applications in Amazon Stores, Fulfillment, Alexa, Kindle, Amazon Video, Prime, Grocery, Audible, and others.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience developing control plane software

  • Experience developing distributed systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
