Amazon Software Development Engineer, GFT, Corporate FP&A in Seattle, Washington

We are looking for a Software Engineer, who can drive appropriate technology choices, lead the way for continuous innovation, and shape the future of our software applications. You will build services to help enable Finance teams to access information quickly and make decisions that impact Amazon. You will be interacting with data engineers, product managers, UX designers and front end engineers to understand the key requirements, lead the design and development of software services. This is a great opportunity for anyone to own the architecture and development from its very initial stage.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design scalable and fault-tolerant platform components that will power full-stack applications for building compelling user experiences

  • Write clean, maintainable code and perform peer code-reviews.

  • Work with product management and cross functional teams to provide technical solutions for desired user experiences.

  • Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility.

  • Work in an agile / scrum environment to deliver high quality software

  • Establish architectural principles, select design patterns, and mentor team members on their appropriate application.

  • Help define and implement standards and promote best Operational Excellence (OE) practices

  • Design and implement individual components of a system

  • Review designs and code to raise the quality bar for the team

  • Support with operational tickets and raise the bar for OE

About the team

GFT team is a cross functional engineering team within Corp FP&A. On our team, we enjoy a unique vantage point into everything happening within Amazon. As part of that, this role would be part of a team that is responsible for Company’s enterprise-wide financial planning & analytics environment. The data flowing through our platform directly contributes to decision-making by our CFO and all levels of finance leadership. Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
