Amazon Software Dev Engineer (L5), Departures Tech in Seattle, Washington

Description

The Departures Tech team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our mission of transforming the offboarding experience for Amazonians. We're building innovative solutions that leverage Generative AI (GenAI) and Machine Learning to identify patterns and anomalies in departure data, enabling data-driven decisions and insights. Our team is responsible for developing applications that streamline administrative tasks, provide clear guidance, and ensure a positive final experience with Amazon.

As a Software Developer, you'll be part of a team building enterprise-scale applications that handle thousands of employee transitions globally. You'll work on systems that automate compliance workflows, manage documentation, and integrate with Amazon's HR systems. Our tech stack leverages AWS services and advanced AI capabilities to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient processing of sensitive employee data.

Key job responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end software development using AWS native services, focusing on scalability and security.

• Design and implement solutions that meet availability target.

• Lead technical discussions and drive consensus across multiple stakeholder groups.

• Implement AI solutions to automate routine decision-making processes.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to maintain our response SLAs.

• Mentor team members and establish coding standards for the team.

• Stay curious and bring new ideas to solve complex problems.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • 2+ years of programming on Java, TypeScript, Node Js,including object-oriented design experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
