Blue Origin LLC Senior Software Engineer - New Glenn, Mission Control in Seattle, Washington

This role directly supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth's orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be responsible for designing, building, and continuously improving the state-of-the-art mission control software system that allows us to launch and land rockets better, faster, and cheaper. Implementing features to enable a higher level of automation is a key enabler. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of enabling everyone around you to go faster. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight, at scale. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop mission control software used to test and fly launch vehicles and space vehicles Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and operators to develop tools and workflows supporting advanced spaceflight systems Automate and test everything, make it fast, and make it scale Continuously improve our product, internal tools, and processes Integrate commercial, open-source, and custom solutions across our platform Continuously innovate on behalf of our customers to meet evolving program requirements Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field 7+ years of software development experience Advanced software development skills, particularly in C++ and Python Advanced experience with build, test, and deployment automation Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Linux, Windows, GitLab, Docker, build systems, compiler toolchains, scripting languages, and databases Experience in developing autonomous systems and/or creating products to enable higher levels of autonomy Experience with desktop applications, real-time embedded applications, and safety-critical software development Experience with space vehicle operations, self-driving automobiles, or industrial process control Experience with computer networking systems and protocols Experience with the Qt / QML application framework Experience with DevOps and Agile / Scrum Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $170,805.00-$239,127.00 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
