The Virginia Mason Center for Hyperbaric Medicine is a regional referral center for the Northwest. The facility is the only accredited hyperbaric chamber in the Northwest and is the second in North America to receive accreditation “With Distinction” from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. This multi-place chamber has a critical care facility that is available 24 hours a day for emergencies. The center serves as a primary backup facility for the United States Armed Forces, Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, police, fire and rescue agencies. Virginia Mason Center for Hyperbaric Medicine is also nationally recognized for research in areas including decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, and adverse effects of radiation.

The registered nurse provides high quality, skilled nursing services to assist patients to achieve optimum health and functional health status following an illness requiring hospitalization. Through collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals, the nurse prepares the patient and family for discharge to home or another setting for continued care.

Qualifications

Required:

Monthly call requirement: 48 Hours per month, signed up in 8-hour blocks. If called in during call shift, you will be required to stay until the completion of the treatment or the end of your call shift- whichever is required for patient safety.

  • Hyperbaric Inside Attendant: If called in, the time in the chamber can range from 6-8 hours- depending on the duration of the treatment.

  • Charge Nurse: If called in, they need to stay until their call shift is over

  • Chamber Specialist: If called in, they need to stay until their call shift is over

Routine shift requirements: 8 Hours per month, routine shifts are 4 hours long

  • Orientation: All roles are trained to the Inside Attendant job prior to orienting to Chamber Specialist or Charge Nurse. Inside Attendant: Three shadow shifts (4H Blocks), then can sign up for call and routine shifts

  • Active Washington State Registered Nurse license required

  • Critical care experience required

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.

Pay Range

$43.99 - $63.9 /hour
