Job Description: Tetra Tech seeks a Resource Efficiency Manager (REM)/energy manager to support the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in Seattle, Washington. As a REM, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive energy management services to help the USCG meet federal sustainability goals, achieve energy, dollar, and greenhouse gas reduction targets. This position requires on-site presence at the FD&CC with occasional travel, less than 25% of the time. Primary Duties:

  • Develop and implement energy management strategies to support federal sustainability goals.
  • Perform design reviews aimed at enhancing energy efficiency. By scrutinizing architectural and engineering plans, the REM can identify opportunities to optimize energy use and reduce consumption. This involves evaluating building layouts, HVAC systems, insulation, lighting, and the integration of renewable energy sources. The goal is to ensure that designs align with sustainable principles, federal energy efficiency standards, and USCG goals for reducing carbon footprint and enhancing energy resilience.
  • Conduct energy audits and identify energy and water conservation measures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute projects that reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Provide technical expertise in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and distributed generation projects.
  • Support the implementation of Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) and Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESCs).
  • Analyze energy data and recommend strategies to optimize energy use and reduce costs.
  • Support Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Sustainable Federal Building Assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation related to energy management initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions on energy efficiency and sustainability practices.
  • Recommend energy efficient improvements to operations and maintenance.
  • Support construction of energy projects.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in energy management or energy engineering required

Strong HVAC background with experience in design reviews, energy auditing, project development, life-cycle cost analysis, direct digital controls, energy efficient retro commissioning, and building/system optimization desired.

BS in engineering or energy-related field strongly preferred; equivalent military or civilian experience may be considered.

Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) designation required or ability to obtain.

Previous experience working at Federal facilities, especially with the Coast Guard, is a plus.

Knowledge of utility information systems, energy management technologies, and metering.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong analytical and problem-solving
