Snap Inc. Quality Engineer (5) in Seattle, Washington

Drive quality engineering efforts for internal and external product releases. Develop test strategies for existing and new, unreleased features. Define, implement, and maintain test automation for the client platform that drives improvements in Snapchat's usability, performance, hardware compatibility, and software interoperability. Diagnose, debug, and perform root cause analysis for defects/incidents, document your findings, collaborate cross-functionally to triage, and champion resolution of your bugs. Collaborate with Product Design, Program Management, Feature Developers, and other Quality Engineering team members to define requirements, ensure testability, and deliver high-quality features. Participate in the release process for Snapchat. Propose regression tests to discover recurring issues and drive the tests to "automation complete". Collaborate with partner teams to understand dependencies and to facilitate development of integration and end-to-end tests. Propose and implement quality methodologies to the team to ensure product quality and team efficiency.  Required education/experience: Master of Science or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field plus five (5) years of experience in Software Quality Engineering and/or Software Testing and/or Software Development occupation, or closely related experience; OR Bachelor of Science or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field plus seven (7) years of experience in Software Quality Engineering and/or Software Testing and/or Software Development occupation, or closely related experience.  Required Skills: Knowledge and/or experience in: Experience with object-oriented programming in Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, and Python. Experience with web test automation frameworks: Selenium WebDriver or Cypress. Experience with mobile test automation frameworks: Appium, Espresso, XCUITest). Experience in defining, executing, and maintaining test coverage for web and mobile applications. Ability to isolate defects effectively as well as provide specific conditions for reproducibility. Proficiency in version control (GitHub) and issue/project tracking software (Jira). Proficiency in software development/debugging tools: Chrome Dev Tools, Postman, Curl. Experience with Jenkins. Processes: Agile Methodologies, Software Development Life Cycle, Software Testing Life Cycle, Defect Life Cycle, Testing Methodologies, Crash Triage and Analysis. Experience with web services testing. Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google Cloud. Experience with Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and continuous integration and delivery systems. Operating systems and platforms: Linux, Mac OS, Android, iOS.  *Knowledge/experience/ability/proficiency means knowledge/experience/ ability/proficiency sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered.  OTHER: Job Site: Snap Inc., 2025 1^st^ Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121. *Hybrid work permitted -- Snap practices a "default together" approach and expects our team members to work in the Seattle, WA office at least 80% of the time (an average of 4 days per week). 40 hours/week. Base salary: $168,000 - $252,000 per year. This position is eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus award. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
