Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for owning, managing, and executing the day-to-day activities of client projects. These activities may include managing the day-to-day aspects of a project, planning and executing future projects, and focusing on client satisfaction initiatives. This position is very client-facing.
The Project Manager partners with the team to ensure that One North’s engagements meet all requirements, exceed our client expectations, and are of the highest quality. This individual must lead from experience in structuring multiple engagements with parallel work streams spanning digital strategy, brand development, creative strategy, design, user experience, and web development that ladders to client satisfaction and portfolio health.
This role will ideally be based in the Chicagoland area, but we are open to remote locations across the U.S. and Canada.
Responsibilities
• Act as the primary day-to-day project contact for client and internal teams.
• Assist in scoping and estimating work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team to drive the approach and sale of projects for new and existing clients.
• Experience independently managing and reporting (weekly) on fixed fee and time & materials project budgets against revenue and profitability (GP%) targets.
• Conducted project revenue forecasting, helped identify growth opportunities, ensured execution of project legal documents, and helped drive client profitability.
• Manage cross-functional work streams across multiple projects and clients, focusing on upstream design and strategy work with the potential to take digital ideas through build and implementation.
• Ensure using best practices and apply lessons learned from previous engagements.
• Help produce project lifecycle documentation, including project schedules, status reports, and all other documentation defining individual project requirements.
• Monitor the quality of all project aspects: scope, risk, schedule, budget, delivery, and all associated client communication.
• Contribute to and help manage internal process improvement initiatives, especially those involving tools and knowledge management standardization and solutions. Collaborate within the organization to develop guidelines and processes that advance the agency’s Project Management discipline.
• Proactively identify issues and risks; know when to escalate issues and when to work through them on your own.
• Pursue opportunities to lead by example and foster the talents of high-performing team members.
Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience required
• 3 or more years of professional project management experience
• Experience creating project schedules, managing both fixed fee & time & materials projects, and project reporting
• Ability to communicate effectively in a client-facing role across junior and senior client leadership/stakeholders
• Experience in a client services organization or digital agency, leading projects across multiple disciplines
• Self-starter, ability to work independently and with confidence
• Solid track record of successfully developing multi-faceted projects from start to finish, on time, and managing a budget
• Experience resourcing team members across the project lifecycle
• High emotional intelligence with the ability to demonstrate client empathy while balancing the needs of our business and our team
• Detail-oriented self-starter with strong planning and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in conjunction with workflow steps, internal and external processes, and client-facing presentations
• Effective negotiation and conflict management/risk mitigation skills
• Experience in project estimation
• Accountability and flexibility, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Experience or exposure to the delivery of technology implementation projects
• Experience working with both waterfall and agile methodology
