Title: Principal Risk Assessor Location: Seattle, WA Job Type: Regular Full-time What's the Opportunity? Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time site characterization and risk assessor to support and advance our pacific northwest and national operations. Qualified candidates will have an B.S. degree in environmental science, biology, toxicology, or related field and at least 15 yrs. experience in site characterization and risk assessments. This position will involve a balance of technical leadership, project management, business development, and staff mentoring. Project opportunities are expected to include investigations associated with contaminated sites, remediation, restoration, sediment, water, and biota characterization, bioaccumulation, Responsibilities: The position will manage and provide technical oversight to risk assessments and site investigation activities including: development of risk assessment work plans and conceptual site models, negotiation with regulatory agencies on such work plans, direction of field data collection, supervision of data analysis, conducting and reporting results of studies, and developing strategies for our clients. Project work will also include risk-adjacent efforts, including sediment characterization for dredging and the beneficial use of dredged material projects and bioavailability and bioaccumulation analyses. Successful candidates will have experience with project management, client interaction, and agency negotiations. The position will also participate in business development activities related to risk assessments, site investigations, remediation, and restoration. As a technical leader, the successful candidate will also be responsible for mentoring staff, leading teams, growing our capacity to win work, and positioning Anchor QEA to take advantage of future industry trends. What Are We Looking For? Ideal candidates will have the following: B.S. or higher degree in environmental sciences, biology, toxicology, or related field 15+ years of professional experience in consulting, industry, or governmental agencies Strong communication and writing skills Creates strong morale on team through a culture of trust Possesses a keen understanding of the business, industry trends, and competitive landscape Makes prompt, clear, and sound decisions that may involve tough choices or risks Creates a culture of support, engagement, and collaboration for teams they lead Provides all staff with development opportunities and coaching Proven record of winning work Leadership and project management experience on high profile risk assessment and sediment investigation projects including complex sites under CERCLA, MTCA, or related statutes including work on remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and remediation design. Experience with bioaccumulation testing and modeling Development of sediment, surface water, stormwater, and tissue sampling programs Participation in professional organizations such as the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Expertise demonstrated by presentations, publications, awards, expert testimony, teaching, or other leadership roles What Can You Expect?
