THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Product Manager - Tech to join our Device OS team. This senior-level position requires an expert in operating systems and multimedia capabilities with a proven track record of leading complex technical products. In this role, you will spearhead the strategy and execution of key initiatives that shape the future of Amazon's device operating systems, with a particular focus on multimedia features and capabilities.

A successful candidate will operate as both a strategic and tactical leader through their deep subject matter expertise in multimedia domains including:

  • Video: encode/decode, video pipelines and frameworks

  • Audio: focus, volume, A/V sync, etc.

  • Camera or graphics frameworks

Working on an OS also means we seek a candidate who has proven experience with:

  • SoC selection and OS bringup on SoC,

  • Codec support and DRM implementation

  • Strong knowledge of media players, ad-insertion, streaming formats, and supporting app developers

Key job responsibilities

• Work closely with engineering teams and customers to define a vision, prioritize features, author requirements, and clarify development for delivering multimedia features in the Device OS

• Lead the strategy and execution of key initiatives that shape the future of Amazon's device operating systems

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, set priorities, and deliver high-impact features and improvements

• Gather and analyze market research, user feedback, and data to inform product decisions

• Develop and maintain detailed product requirements documents and user stories

• Ensure successful implementation of product features by working closely with engineering teams throughout the development process

• Communicate product plans, milestones, and results to senior leadership and stakeholders

• Mentor and guide other product managers on the team

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

  • Experience leading engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
