As a part of our growing system, we are recruiting a BE/BC Vascular Medicine Specialist. This is an exceptional leadership opportunity, to grow and build the practice of vascular medicine across the system.

The vascular specialist, will drive the multidisciplinary oversight for cardiovascular patient care by partnering with cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, hematology/oncology, wound care and primary care.

In this role, you’ll maintain a clinical practice within vascular surgery and work closely with the cardiovascular service line, with a goal of expanding this line across the region.

Position highlights

  • Opportunity to grow and integrate the VMFH Center for Cardiovascular Health within the Greater Puget Sound region

  • Lead the development of the vascular medicine program for two highly reputable systems and build a patient centered program that provides the highest quality care for cardiovascular patients

  • Partner with two system vascular surgery department heads and our leader of the Cardiovascular Service Line

  • Oversee and recommend standards and protocols for cardiovascular patients

  • Lead the initiative to develop a co-integrated Vascular Imaging Lab

  • Practice alongside a vascular service line with an established team of 10 Vascular Surgeons and 9 APP’s.

  • Clinical practice in Downtown Seattle Virginia Mason Medical Center and St. Joseph’s in Tacoma, WA.

Ideal candidate:

  • Utilize the published SVS guidelines and help develop local protocols for the surveillance of vascular pathology

  • Create protocols in collaboration with primary care for risk factor reduction in our population and guide medical management of atherosclerosis

  • Design protocols and guidelines for the anticoagulation regimen and work with the anticoagulation clinic in management the perioperative surgical patients (e.g. patients undergoing surgery)

  • Aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with vasculitis and non-atherosclerotic vascular disease

  • Create protocols for the treatment and management of acute and chronic DVT as well as venous insufficiency.

  • If desired and qualified, the vascular medicine specialist may perform appropriate ambulatory venous procedures.

  • Help with protocols and direct the non-operative management of patients with claudication, initiating and engaging a walking regimen, optimal medical treatment, and help navigate patients in a newly developed vascular rehabilitation exercise protocol.

  • Help with the surveillance of non-operative cerebrovascular disease patients and patients with aneurysmal disease

  • Be an integral part of the Limb salvage Program. As part of the LSP he/she would help wound care centers fine tune the existing referral protocol to identify the appropriate candidates for revascularization.

  • Would participate in the Vascular M&M

  • Be involved in the certification and implementation of protocols within the dedicated (ICAVL-approved) Vascular Lab to perform radiologic studies on these patients.

Qualifications

  • BE/BC in Internal Medicine

  • Fellowship or advanced training in Vascular Medicine preferred

  • 2-3 years of experience preferred

  • Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of WA

  • Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice
