UW Medical Center–Montlake-Emergency Department Registration has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist Supervisor .
WORK SCHEDULE
100% FTE (40 hours per week)
Monday – Friday
Day Shift POSITION HIGHLIGHTS The Patient Services Specialist Supervisor (PSS-Supervisor) oversees various supervisory and administrative non-clinical functions within the department. This role is responsible for leading and supervising staff in the Patient Services Specialist class series, as well as other assigned personnel.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Prioritize tasks to ensure patient safety and smooth unit operations
Manage staff scheduling, HR data systems, and provide quality customer service
Track supplies, submit repair work orders, and support quality improvement initiatives
Collect and report department metrics while using communication devices professionally STANDARDS OF DAILY PRACTICE:
Contribute to the development and implementation of organizational systems
Demonstrate exceptional coordination, prioritization, and multitasking skills
Follow up on projects, orders, and requisitions to ensure completion
Serve as a resource for staff and model courteous communication FUNCTION AS MEMBER OF HEALTHCARE TEAM:
Assist in developing, testing, and implementing organizational systems
Recognized as an expert in unit and Medical Center services and access SAFETY AND RESPONSE TO EMERGENCIES:
Collaborate to ensure a safe environment
Follow hospital and departmental protocols for emergencies and disasters
Address safety risks related to environment, equipment, or engineering
Adhere to safety, infection control, and emergency guidelines ADVOCACY AND HUMANISTIC CARE:
Advocate for patients and families, ensuring privacy and connection to appropriate staff
Prioritize patient needs and provide additional service or assistance as needed
Demonstrate dignity and respect for others’ values, cultures, and lifestyles
Report unprofessional practices and demonstrate age-specific competencies COMMUNICATION AND TEAM BUILDING:
Foster teamwork and positive relationships across departments
Maintain professionalism and represent the unit in committees and meetings
Demonstrate reliable attendance and adhere to dress code and hygiene standards
Practice cost containment by ordering and using supplies efficiently QUALITY ASSESSMENT AND IMPROVEMENT:
Support quality assessment and improvement activities
Maintain and enhance knowledge of medical terminology, policies, and services PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT/SKILLS:
Take responsibility for professional growth through work-related experiences and education
Respond positively to identified learning needs and seek educational opportunities
Participate in professional development and continuing education to improve practice and unit operations
Enhance computer skills for accurate and efficient workflow QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
Experience with Epic ADT and Hospital ADT Systems
Leadership experience
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience working with diverse populations REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in a medically related or public relations field
Four years of experience as a Patient Services Specialist
