ManpowerGroup Optical Transport Network Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Our high profile client is seeking an experienced Optical Network Engineer with 7+ years of experience for a 6-11 month contract assignment located onsite in Seattle, WA. As an Optical Network Engineer this team, you will gather requirements and develop solutions as well as handle operations and maintenance of optical networks which are in production. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in handling, designing, developing, maintaining Optical Transport Networks, strong understanding of IP network connectivity and configuration and how IP networks work, understand planning and design at a very large scale, and basic knowledge of automation scripting to align well with this organization.

Pay Range: $72.95/HR on Experis W2

What’s the Job?

  • This team is focused on Optical Network Development – all product development qualifications and testing for technology for metro regions. This is a huge, large-scale network

  • Gather requirements from internal teams and then develop projects and solutions and maintain the production networks.

  • Gather data from customers and then design solutions for transfer efforts.

  • Will manage people on the ground to do the validation at the datacenters and come up with new designs or work with existing designs.

  • Will involve some meetings, a lot of independent work, and working with people at the datacenter to understand conditions on the ground for rack space, power, etc.

  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment.

What’s Needed?

  • Should have a minimum of 7+ years industry experience in Optical Networking/ Optical Transport Network Engineering

  • Excellent network experience with the rollout of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies, and experience with optical planning and modelling tools.

  • Expertise IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols.

  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically BGP and OSPF

  • Basic knowledge of automation in Python or other programming language.
