Amergis MRI Tech in Seattle, Washington

The MRI Technologist uses magnetic resonance imaging scanners and related equipment to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine and extremities on patients of all ages effectively adjusting scanning parameters for different patient body habitus. Selects and modifies technical factors to enhance images; uses flare and SAT imaging techniques

  • Determines appropriate equipment for scanning up to but not limited to body coils

  • Must be able to closely follow a physician’s instructions, prepares and operates MRI equipment, position patients correctly and effectively record the requested diagnostic images

  • Identifies gross pathology in the human body and adjusts T1 and T2 scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation.

  • Performs Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, reformats and MIP imaging

  • Uses magnetic resonance and adjusts parameters to minimize exposure to patient and self

  • Follows established protocols and uses scanning techniques to include, window and contrast levels, scanning time sequences, scanning delays, scanning thickness, FOV, scout images, reformatting, images reconstruct and 3-D image reconstruct.

  • Photographs, archives and retrieves images

  • Performs quality control for procedures and equipment. Documents systems failures and variances in the appropriate logbook and arranges for service when necessary

  • Certified to start and remove IV lines for contrast studies per established departmental policy and procedure. Identifies and responds to IV contrast reactions up to and including calling emergency personnel

  • Proficient in the use of an IV Contrast Power Injector

  • Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's requisition and previous studies for consistency

  • (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis), and records pertinent data on MRI requisition at all times

  • Responsible for performing comprehensive screening of patients and other individuals before allowing them to enter the MR system room

  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure

  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images

  • Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in the radiology field

  • Registered with the ARRT; if required by state regulations or contract specification.

  • One (1) one year of experience in related field preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
