Villa Academy Middle School Spanish Teacher in Seattle, Washington

Pay: $51,501.73 -- 125,644.04/year, dependent upon education and experience

Starting August 2025

Ten-month, non-exempt position that follows the academic calendar

Reports to: Director of Middle School

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach
  • multiple sections of Middle School Spanish and one section of Middle School Advisory, to students in grades Fifth through Eighth.
  • Plan and implement inquiry-based lesson plans that align with Villa Academy Spanish curriculum standards.
  • Cultivate a classroom community amongst a small, grade-specific advisory group utilizing Villa's social-emotional learning curriculum.
  • Work closely with the rest of the Spanish team to support students' development and ensure they are well-prepared for success in Spanish 2 in high school (ACTFL Intermediate-Low.)
  • Effectively partner and communicate with families, colleagues, and administration to appropriately challenge and support students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve instructional strategies.
  • Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning experiences.
  • Regularly assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance.
  • Participate in faculty/staff, grade level, and division meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

* QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field; Master's degree and/or teaching credential preferred.
  • 2+ years of Spanish teaching experience, preferably with Middle School students.
  • Knowledge of proficiency-based language acquisition models.
  • In-depth understanding of, and experience with, inquiry-based learning in education settings.
  • Passion for working with Middle School students, with a deep understanding of their developmental needs and learning styles.
  • Proven ability to implement effective classroom support strategies and foster positive relationships with young learners.
  • Experience with and appreciation for purposeful play, as well as a solid foundation in interdisciplinary, STEAM-focused, and project-based learning.
  • Desire to utilize outdoor spaces to introduce children to nature and facilitate connections between them and their environment.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology including document cameras, interactive whiteboards, web-based learning software, and Google apps.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, faculty/staff, and campus partners.
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.
