Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Repair or replace defective parts.
Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
Lubricate and clean parts, equipment, and machinery.
Test and adjust equipment to meet performance specifications.
Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
Sharpen and reshape tools as necessary.
Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
Repair electrical equipment.
Follow plant food safety policies and industry best practices.
Acquire knowledge of Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
Notify designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
A minimum of 1 year of experience in Production Maintenance.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and bagging machines.
Ability to operate a variety of hand tools including welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
3-5 years of experience in production maintenance (preferred).
3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience including working knowledge of electric motors, gearboxes, conveyors, PLCs, control systems, bagging equipment, bearings, and other OEM food manufacturing equipment (preferred).
Strong communication skills and ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot diverse breakdowns.
Proficiency in various software programs such as Microsoft applications and experience with a CMMS program.

Work Environment
This position is in a fish plant where PPE is required on the floor. The environment may be cold and wet or have a fish smell in some locations. Required attire includes a hair net, bump cap, smock, and steel-toe shoes.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $40.00/hr.
