This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's vision, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As the Mission Systems Sr. Manager within the Lunar Mission Operations organization, you will be responsible for delivery, maintenance and support of mission and ground systems. You will help to hire and lead a team of 5-15 engineers in the establishment of requirements, buildup of ground infrastructure and completion of integrated end-to-end communication testing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage mission system overall architecture, developing ConOps, interface control documents (ICDs) and multi-tier requirements specifications to enforce vision. Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team of 5-15 engineers. Provide and present system status to executive leadership in both monthly reviews and formal gated review setting (SRR, PDR, CDR). Act as the primary interface with the ground software team, providing requirements and features needed for operation. Write statements of work (SOWs) and monitor ground infrastructure subcontracts for both hardware and services. Ensure that ground system hardware and software is maintained and available at all times to support lunar mission operations Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical, aerospace, or computer science engineering; or equivalent 10+ years of experience with mission systems, ground infrastructure and/or systems engineering. 2+ years of experience in people management. Resource management experience, including budget and headcount planning and execution. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to adapt and excel in a changing, growing environment. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in people management. Console operations experience with spacecraft or other highly technical system. Knowledge of developing, testing and using ground software. Experience with communications networks, RF and associated security. Subcontract management, including writing SOWs, reviewing deliverables and completing vendor assessments. Experience with implementing MBSE in ground systems. Experience with relevant software: Jama, Jira, GitHub, Cameo Test planning and execution on complex, integrated systems.
