Job Summary The Epic Administrator is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the performance and integrity of the Epic systems. In collaboration with the Information Systems (IS) and Clinical Teams, the Epic Administrator will design, review, and refine system configurations, updates, and alerts and take actions to address any issues identified. This position will collaborate with the IS Development Teams to ensure that appropriate system checks and balances are integrated into coding and testing phases and escalate Epic system issues to IS leadership as needed. Essential Responsibilities Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance the Epic environment to ensure optimal system performance and reliability, including applying necessary patches and upgrades, as required. Configure the Epic system according to the specific needs of the healthcare organization, including clinical workflows, user access levels, and security measures. Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure that the Epic system is tailored to meet their needs and that any issues they encounter are promptly addressed. Provide support and training to the end users of the Epic system, including creating training materials, conducting user training sessions, and addressing user queries and concerns. Conduct regular system tests to validate the functionality of the Epic system and its components, and validate updates, enhancements, and changes before they are deployed to the production environment. Ensure the Epic system adheres to all applicable healthcare data security standards and regulations, including HIPAA. Regularly review and update security configurations, as needed. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues as they arise. Escalate complex issues to IS leadership or Epic support as necessary. Regularly monitor system performance and generate reports on system usage, performance, and issue resolution. Use this data to recommend system enhancements and optimizations. Participate in or lead projects related to the Epic system, such as system upgrades, module implementations, and system integrations. Document all system changes, issues, and resolutions. Share knowledge with team members and end users to enhance overall system understanding and usage.
