POSITION HIGHLIGHTS • Organizes workflow, oversees day-to-day operations, and manages personnel, equipment, and supplies to ensure efficient functioning, quality services, and cost effectiveness of assigned section(s).

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION • Advanced imaging and diagnostic services in North Seattle • Radiology at UWMC-Northwest is equipped with the advanced diagnostic imaging technology available. Our board-certified radiologists have specialty training in cardiac imaging, neuroimaging, musculoskeletal, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and body and breast imaging. Along with our team of expert imaging technologists, they are committed to diagnosing illnesses and injuries quickly and effectively so treatment can begin. • We take time and attention with each patient to explain procedures, so they’ll know what to expect every step of the way. • Radiology Services at UW Medical Center - Northwest offers routine radiology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Leading: Effectively delegates, manages change, sets expectations/goals, makes decisions, solves problems, as well as models fairness, respect, and accountability.

Building Relationships: Fosters teamwork, collaborates to accomplish organization’s goals, inspires trust, deals effectively with conflict, collaborates with proper personnel in the delivery of patient care, safety, and streamlined business operations.

Standards & Accountability: Identifies quality benchmarks, assesses departmental performance, designs improvement plans, promotes safety and security, assures compliance with regulations as well as policies and procedures.

Planning & Decision Making: Develops goals and objectives in support of UW Medicine, develops and maintains policies and procedures, helps develops budgets, monitors/controls expenses to fit budget expectations, and works to improve department cost efficiency and productivity.

Communication: Facilitates open communications and joint decision making with staff, and demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal, writing, listening, and presentation skills.

Developing and Retaining Talent: Interviews and hires staff, onboards and helps train new staff, evaluates staff performance/competency; coaches and provides corrective action when required, motivates and develops competent staff, facilitates continuous learning and development.

Clinical/Operations/Technical Coordination: Schedules and directs daily work activities, evaluates patient flow and makes adjustments, assists with staff coverage issues, assists staff with problems and questions, acts as expert technical resources, establishes and updates exam procedures, protocols and policies.

Quality Control/Assurance and Accreditation: Maintains appropriate documentation and records necessary for accreditation by Joint Commission or other regulatory/accrediting bodies, maintains survey readiness, ensures that all department procedures and policies are in compliance, monitors Quality Assurance data and takes prompt action when problems occur, notifies assistant director or director in a timely manner of issues that supervisor cannot resolve.

Optimizes Productivity: Maintains a cost-efficiency through the proper selection/inventory of supplies, expense control, and appropriate levels of staff for workload volume. Optimizes production, increases efficiency, decreases costs. Operates department within budget effectively using EPIC reporting, HBI, and Kronos Analytics.

Other: Provides support and procedural coverage, maintain skill levels, assists with support and other duties (e.g., transporting, PACS or EPIC support, acts as “super-user” for departmental computer applications, as assigned, and takes call as assigned.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS - Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program in an AMA approved school; registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) AND registered or registry-eligible in an equivalent specialty area - One year of experience performing the work of an Imaging Technologist Lead in the relevant specialty service area(s) OR Equivalent education/experience. - Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.
