The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding a Human Resources Project Manager to our growing People team in Seattle, WA. The HR Project Manager is responsible for creating, managing and executing cross-functional, people-related projects that standardize and strengthen our HR practices across the organization. They will work closely with the Senior People Operations Manager, SVP of People, and other HR and Business leaders to drive a best-in-class employee experience and ensure the smooth delivery of key HR processes and projects, including both ongoing annual/seasonal efforts and ad-hoc special assignments.

Primary responsibilities include:

Project Management:

  • Be the cross-team connector and project manager on annual/seasonal HR efforts (Benefits Open Enrollment, Performance Reviews, Goal Setting, Compensation Cycle, Annual Planning, etc.).

  • Manage the design, development and execution of complex, ad-hoc projects through the point of implementation and turnover to the SME.

  • Utilize issue-based problem-solving techniques to rapidly identify problem statements and structure key activities to deliver outcomes.

  • Escalate risks, track outcomes, empower decision makers, identify interdependencies, build project plans, and manage stakeholders.

  • Leverage research, data and storytelling to support decision-making and enable change across the organization.

  • Support change management activities associated with HR programs and projects.

  • Communicate effectively with a broad set of stakeholders (both HR team and enterprise-wide) and report out on project progress and status.

  • Create meeting content and facilitate working sessions in partnership with applicable HR Senior Leaders.

Operational Excellence:

  • Regularly review HR-related processes with HR partners and determine opportunities within individual teams, as well as across the department.

  • Work with other teams and HR Senior Leader Team to prioritize work related to efficiency and effectiveness and ensure consistency across teams.

  • Own the overall process documentation and project management workflow for the HR department.

  • As needed, develop and gain buy-in on communication, process flow, process ownership, documentation and decision making.

  • Support with other research and administrative duties, as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, leading and implementing complex, cross-functional projects

  • Experience in human resources (strongly preferred)

  • Alignment with McKinstry’s values (Put People First, Be Constantly Curious, Build Trusted Partnerships, Make a Positive Difference)

  • Excellent strategic and critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to navigate in ambiguity

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • PMP or related project management certification highly desired

  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address issues effectively

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend data-driven solutions

  • Ability to navigate and thrive in a complex and dynamic organizational environment (growth mindset)

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information, documents, and records with professionalism and integrity

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – must show demonstrative written communications skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience

T he pay range for this position is $80,100 - $134,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
