This position will administer comprehensive athletic training services for the Football team at the University of Washington. Provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, counseling and education related to athletic injuries and illnesses as needed. (40%)

Supervise and support a staff of (3) athletic trainers/physical therapists and (1) research intern to ensure delivery of world class health care to Football student athletes. Supervise and evaluate all staff who report to this position. Responsible for participating in recruiting, hiring, evaluations, salary recommendations. (20%)

Ensure accurate and thorough record keeping and documentation. Assist with other athletic training and administrative duties as assigned. Adhere to and carry out established policies and procedures. (20%)

Coordinate and schedule medical coverage for home and away practice and competition, training, and strength and conditioning sessions. Coordinate and schedule pre-participation exams and medical referrals to determine student-athlete readiness to participate. Coordinate and schedule pre-season EAP review and Emergency Response training with Medic One/Seattle Fire. (10%)

Work collaboratively with the team physicians and other allied health care professionals. Work with the strength and conditioning/sports science and nutrition staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of individualized programming. Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would benefit and improve the athletic training program. Responsible for ordering/inventory and maintenance of football athletic training room and associated spaces. (10%)

Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or other sports medicine area of study required. • Must possess NATABOC certification along with current CPR and First Aid/AED certifications. • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Washington.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Successful candidates should be proficient in evidence-based medicine, medical documentation, emergency care, sport specific rehabilitation and injury prevention programs; have a demonstrated ability to relate to both men's and women's athletic injuries and health related issues; have a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with other intercollegiate athletic staff, coaches, and the local medical community; must have excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work independently.

Desired:
Master’s degree in athletic training or other sports medicine area of study. Candidates with 5 years or greater post-professional experience are preferred. Experience working with Division I or professional football in a leadership role.
