Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an exceptionally bright, multitasking, and self-motivated individual to support the Director of Software Development for Commercial Software Services including SAP, VMware, and Red Hat OpenShift. This exciting role requires superior attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines, great organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple critical requests. A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information, and professionalism in dealing with senior professionals inside and outside the company is important, as is a good sense of humor. The candidate will possess the ability to complete complex tasks and projects quickly with little to no guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, and take effective action without having to know the total picture.

The successful candidate will need to have a keen attention to detail, a bias for action, strong organizational skills, and the ability to plan meticulously. They must also be able to communicate effectively and take swift, effective action while proactively solving complex problems with minimal guidance.

The role requires the ability to work successfully within a team environment, build effective working relationships, maintain a comprehensive awareness of the organization, and become the "go-to" person for support activities.

Key job responsibilities

• Manage complex calendar and scheduling requirements

• Provide seamless support to senior leaders using prioritization of business activities

• Coordinate travel

• Track and help drive completion of key deliverables and follow up on outstanding items

• Drive key team activities (such as staff meeting agendas, all-hands meetings, and cyclical events like annual planning sessions and performance reviews)

• Work with other assistants throughout Amazon Web Services (AWS)

• Serve as the single point of contact for team events and meetings

• Support and, at times, manage small to medium projects based on organizational needs and professional development interests

A day in the life

Working in a highly ambiguous environment, you will complete tasks and projects quickly and with little to no guidance, and take effective action without having to know the total picture. You will apply a superior attention to detail, great organizational skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle multiple critical requests while maintaining flexibility, a sense of humor, and most importantly, grace under pressure. You will understand business priorities, demonstrate the ability to proactively anticipate needs, and drive improvements to build capacity for the leaders and their teams. Over time, you will build deep and trusting professional relationships with the leaders and their teams, which will blossom into strong partnerships that provide opportunity for special projects with increased responsibility and long-term career growth.

About the team

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple

Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that

continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support

the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity

Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with executive level calendar management

  • Experience managing multiple executive level calendars

  • Experience with domestic and international travel coordination

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-tech company

  • 4+ years of senior level leadership support experience

  • Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $50,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $107,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
