Summary: JH Kelly has fully integrated electrical services and construction capabilities throughout the Northwest. Our team of over 200 Electricians works daily with owners, general contractors, and facility staff to deliver safe and reliable projects and services.
As an Electrical Project Manager for the Electrical Service and Special Projects Team, you will work in a dynamic team, where you'll play a crucial role in overseeing the lifecycle of projects, from preconstruction to project turnover. Operating in a fast-paced environment, you'll lead various aspects including design, virtual construction, fabrication workflows, field installation, and project management. Lead projects up to $500K from conception to completion, ensuring projects are completed within budget and schedule constraints.
Salary Range: $43 - $57 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
Key Responsibilities:
Safety and Quality Assurance: Ensure strict adherence to company safety and quality protocols, promoting a culture of safety throughout the project. Thoroughly review all project-related documents, including drawings and submittals, to ensure compliance with contractual specifications and quality standards.
Project Planning and Management: Develop and manage project schedules, budget set-up, accounting for variances, and ensuring timely completion. Plan and oversee project estimates, controlling costs and providing accurate projections for cost at completion. Implement and manage project control systems to monitor progress and make informed decisions. Ensure construction work done in-house and by sub-contractors complies with the contract.
Team Leadership and Management: Direct and coordinate the activities of project staff personnel, providing guidance and support as needed. Lead, mentor, and manage interns, field engineers, project engineers, and other team members to ensure successful project execution.
Technical Oversight and Compliance: Review construction procedures and provide technical support as required, ensuring compliance with contract specifications. Perform field engineering tasks, including calculations and design drafting, to facilitate construction convenience items.
Communication and Coordination: Maintain open communication with management, providing regular updates on project status and scheduling. Plan and Coordinate work appropriately to facilitate the work permit process. Be directly involved with construction procedures represent the company at various meetings and liaise with stakeholders to address project-related matters.
Procurement and Change Management: Take off quantities and prepare pricing for changes as directed, managing the procurement process effectively. Write and manage RFIs (Requests for Information) and change orders to address project modifications promptly.
Continuous Improvement and Documentation: Continuously assess project processes and procedures for opportunities for improvement, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and quality. Ensure thorough documentation of all project-related activities and decisions to maintain accountability and transparency.
Relationships:
Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly operating groups and teams, including shop and field craft personnel.
Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.
Experience / Qualifications:
5+ years of full Project Management life cycle experience in the electrical industry
5+ years of prior electrical field experience preferred
A background or experience in electrical design, industrial controls, the electrical construction process, and the NEC is highly preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Technical Trade School, or a construction industry-related field is highly preferred but not required
Expertise in all responsibilities of the project showing proficiency and mastery with consistent positive results and growth:
Scheduling, budgeting, planning, and managing projects
Scheduling baseline, impact claims, and negotiation of soft subjects
Risk assessment and communication (internal & external)
Billings, forecasting, and resource management
Consistently produce greater than bid margin profits
Develop repeat business with customers and clients
Fully Proficient in Microsoft Office & Bluebeam – intermediate skills in Excel
Experience in multiple markets or sectors is preferable
Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, using MS Project or comparable applications preferred
Above-average knowledge in Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Contracts, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and Safety
Ability to conceptually visualize projects and implement appropriate plans with financial success
Above average skills in reading drawings and isometrics
Must have a valid driver's license
