This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-liftorbital launch vehicle capable ofroutinelycarrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar,and beyond.Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designedfrom the beginningto be human-capable. As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will own end to end product development as a responsible engineer of LRUs. These LRUs are a critical component of New Glenn, and control some of the most significant functions on the rocket like hydraulics, thrust vector control (TVC), fins, ordnance, sensors, valves, and more. In this role you'll interface with design, test, systems, integration, software and control engineering disciplines throughout the entire product lifecycle from conception to flight ready hardware. Responsibilities: Own the requirements, development, verification and delivery of avionics products to internal customers Identify and implement change management for sophisticated avionics hardware development solutions Define and execute tests at the integrated assembly level in avionics development labs, environmental test labs, radiation test labs and vendor test labs Apply technical expertise to problem solving throughout product lifecycle, including design review support and verification planning and execution, scheduling, etc. Collaborate with avionics product development team members to identify current technology capabilities, risks, opportunities and challenges and identify and develop solutions Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field 5+ years of developing and testing complex hardware equipment over the entire product lifecycle Passion for hands-on problem solving and avionics integration and test Ability to work independently on rapid development programs Demonstrate a strong solid understanding of electronics product development with expertise in systems integration Familiarity with use of complex computational devices (combinational and sequential logic) to monitor sensors and drive actuators, including design and verification Highly organized, safety and quality conscious, with excellent technical written and verbal communication skills Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field 7+ years of experience in developing hardware across entire product lifecycle. Experience developing and testing complex electronic systems combining hardware, firmware, and software Experience leading the development and testing of real-time embedded systems with a focus on modular and extensible architectures Experience developing and testing hardware to MIL-STD-461 and similar environmental standards Experience developing and testing safety and critically important systems (automotive, aerospace, medical, etc.) aligned with DO-254 or similar standards Proficiency with scripting; programming and analysis/modeling tools: Python, Linux/Windows shell scripting; assembly language, C, C++; MATLAB / Simulink / SPICE (or similar) Experience using Altium/Cadence OrCAD / Allegro (or similar tools) to design complex aerospace boards.
