Job Title: Building Engineer

Job Description

The main function of a Mobile Engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple facilities. This role requires technical expertise in one craft area such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations, and multi-skilled abilities in others.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire Life Safety, and Control systems to ensure they meet applicable standards.

  • Travel between multiple facilities to ensure their proper function.

  • Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency.

  • Clean, inspect, calibrate, and change parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels.

  • Record readings and make adjustments as necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.

  • Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, and maintain a clean and safe workplace.

  • Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.

  • Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.

  • Comply with all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping and safety of work areas, recognize danger and safety hazards, and propose methods to eliminate them.

Essential Skills

  • Technical expertise in Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations.

  • Experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.

  • Ability to analyze the operation of various Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action.

  • EPA 608 Type II Certification.

  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.

  • Valid driver's license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (preferred).

  • Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC (preferred).

Work Environment

This role involves being mobile 25% of the day, traveling between different sites. The company provides a vehicle, gas card, iPad, and tools. Work is primarily conducted in commercial buildings.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
