Moderna Services, Inc. Associate Software Engineer in Seattle, Washington

The Role Moderna is expanding our footprint to Seattle to further our mission of delivering the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines! Our new technology hub in Seattle will focus on software product development for our Commercial, Data & Machine Learning, Cloud Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering Excellence (dev tools) products and platforms. We are looking to hire Software Development Engineers (SDEs) to develop their careers at Moderna, who bring strong technical expertise, a product mindset that embodies the unique Moderna Mindsets, and passion to change the future of medicine. In this role, you will work on exciting, cutting-edge technology initiatives/products from the ground up to empower our technology roadmap across the organization, with the ultimate goal of transforming patients' lives. Here's What You'll Do: * Build highly maintainable and secure code, including enhancements, refactoring, and deprecating as needed. * Develop functional code based on defined requirements, effectively utilizing core or standard libraries. * Demonstrate foundational understanding of standards, concepts and principles of engineering to solve practical needs of the business. * Ensure adherence to engineering best practices across entire solutions. * Ensure code quality by validating scenarios through comprehensive automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end). * Evaluate tradeoffs such as efficiency versus maintainability in code development. * Diagnose and resolve software issues by following established procedures. * Understand how to separate disparate components from each other and seek guidance from teammates or your manager when building software with more than one component * Understand common tradeoffs among aspects of the code bar such as efficiency versus maintainability * Identify and optimize performance issues in solutions and infrastructure. * Successfully collaborate with team members using best-in-industry software engineering tools and processes such as source control and code review you learn from feedback on your code * Function partially to fully independently with regular checkpoints including code reviews and daily standup * Communicate effectively to your team about timelines to deliver your work efficiently and reliability. Here's What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications) * Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technology or scientific field and 1+ years of experience building full-stack software OR equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree. * Educational or job-related experience with full-stack web application development. Our stack is oriented around React + node, experience with this or willingness to learn is essential. * Educational or job-related experience with Object Oriented Programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or C. * Educational or job-related experience documenting technical systems and user workflows.
