The Husky Union Building has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Manager (Program Support Supervisor I (NE S SEIU 925 Supv)) to join their team.

ABOUT HUB GAMES

HUB Games is the premiere entertainment center on the UW campus and the only bowling alley in north Seattle. HUB Games operates a 12-lane bowling alley, a state-of-the-art Esports competitive Gaming Arena, and a large billiards lounge, generating over $600,000 in revenue annually.

POSITION PURPOSE

This position works under the general supervision of the Associate Director for Games and with a team of student employees to manage events, order merchandise, maintain the facility, and provide customer service in all aspects of the rental, cleaning, and use of the gaming activities at HUB Games.

Promising candidates will demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, a pattern of excellent customer service, and excellent attendance and punctuality in prior positions. You work well both independently and with diverse groups of people to take initiative, delegate tasks, and maintain accountability. You are a detail-oriented, organized self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision displaying initiative and strong work ethic while minimizing distractions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operations (40%)

  • Create, maintain, and review operations checklists to ensure timely completion of routine tasks.

  • Review daily logs and follow up with staff to confirm successful completion of tasks; troubleshoot problems; and recommend modifications to policy and procedure as needed.

  • Monitor retail merchandise, and equipment inventories and complete orders to replenish stock.

  • Perform routine maintenance and updates to equipment and software to mitigate common breakdowns and errors. Report all maintenance needs to HUB Facilities. Report all IT needs to HUB Finance and Business Operations.

  • Ensure adequate cash bank for change. Exchange cash with HUB Finance and Business Operations as needed.

  • Operate cash register/Point of Sale system to complete transactions, run reports, reconcile daily cash flow, and troubleshoot errors.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the facility, including the retail counter, office, and storage rooms. Report all custodial needs to HUB Facilities.

  • Set up and arrange furniture and equipment according to customer preferences and ensure compliance with state and city regulations and codes.

  • Develop and recommend new product or service offerings, pricing models, and policies and procedures.Customer Service (40%)

  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers; answer inquiries; provide recommendations or referrals; complete transactions; and troubleshoot issues.

  • Advise customers on the use of the facility, furnishings, equipment, software, and building policies.

  • Utilize an event management software system to create, modify, cancel, and report on reservations.

  • Assist with the development and distribution of advertisements and marketing to promote HUB Games through print, email, social media, digital display, and other mediums.

  • Manage the HUB Games central email account; respond to inquiries; and ensure customer complaints and suggestions are followed up on.

  • Investigate and report incidents occurring in the facility or during events.Supervision (20%)

  • Train, schedule, and evaluate 1 permanent Retail Clerk.

  • Train, schedule, and evaluate up to 20 temporary student staff.

  • Monitor the quality of work performed by staff to ensure a high level of customer service and compliance with department policy and standards. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of applicable experience in retail and entertainment venue operations OR equivalent education/experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain positive working relationships and ensure collaboration and cooperation among units within the HUB and external departments.

  • Ability to use independent judgement and problem solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with diverse individuals.

  • Experience directly supervising permanent staff.

  • Experience directly supervising college student employees.

  • Strong commitment to advancing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus community. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or marketing.

  • Familiarity with University of Washington policy, procedure, and systems. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
