Seattle Children's Animal Technician I in Seattle, Washington

Conduct laboratory animal care and associated support duties under close supervision according to standards set forth by the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (the Guide) to maintain full accreditation status with the Association for Assessment & Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).

Essential Functions

Complete animal husbandry support tasks involving the operation/maintenance of machinery:

Prepare and process animal equipment

Maintain research laboratory glass wash area, operating washers, autoclaves and dryers to wash and sterilize laboratory glassware

Monitor equipment and manage material needs

Complete and maintain appropriate records.

Execute animal husbandry tasks:

Change cages and water bottles; ensure all areas are maintained for a clean environment

Check animals through direct observation

Complete and maintain appropriate records.

Perform housekeeping services:

Remove garbage from facility; maintain clean environment

Provide sufficient PPE supplies as needed.

Perform administrative tasks:

Collect and record data

Perform other administrative tasks as requested.

If assigned to a Research Institute Support Services department:

Integrate CPI thinking, tools, and methodologies into the accomplishment of essential functions, so as to adhere to standard work and continuously seek incremental improvement.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Required Credentials

N/A.

Preferred

Some laboratory/animal husbandry experience with mice and rats. Experience operating cage washers and autoclaves.

Compensation Range

$20.00 - $27.78 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
