DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Accountant 2, you will conduct duties within the Accounting Section of the Financial Management Division of the State Workers' Insurance Fund (SWIF).  You will be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, inclusive of insurance accounting theory and practices, as well as analyzing general ledger account information and making recommendations regarding accounting treatment, procedures, and presentation.  Strong attention to detail is exercised to maintain the automated general ledger system and standard workpapers, schedules, and forms, in addition to updating those items with new or changing insurance accounting practices and financial reporting needs.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, as you will also function as the audit liaison between the Accounting Division and outside parties for the annual audit of SWIF.  This professional provides assistance with training new employees, with special emphasis on state and statutory insurance regulations, reporting needs, and company policy and procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Accountant 1; or Two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting. Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation.  A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.

Legal Requirements: This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
