Job Summary
Operate DAC lathes and automated equipment according to current Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and provide technical production support services. Responsible for processes critical to the quality of the product and the impact quality can have on the end user. Ability to troubleshoot lathe problems. Use, operate, and train on metrology and inspection equipment to obtain, record and analyze results of process. Use analytical software and control programs to efficiently set up and operate automated equipment.

Essential Functions

• Machine set-up, adjustments, installations and work in progress inspection.
• Regularly set up Made to Order (MTO) automation lathes and other technical equipment on the production line and check for continued adherence to standards of tolerance and product quality.
• Work as part of a dynamic team environment to ensure automation equipment operates optimally.
• Responsible for optimal operation of lathing equipment to include diamond tool changes and calibrations.
• Regularly inspect samples to assure proper machine results and make any necessary adjustments or modifications according to procedure.
• Record and analyze data using Statistical Process Control methods.
• Perform equipment cleaning duties as necessary.
• Maintain regular surveillance over all production operations, load supplies, operate de-molding equipment and interface with Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens.
• As directed, trouble shoot problems and make equipment adjustments, changes or recommendations to the MTO Automation Coordinator or Supervisor.
• Perform other technical or support services related to production as directed.
• Provide operational feedback to the MTO Coordinator or Supervisor and recommend solutions.
• Update the management team on current status of equipment/production with written turnover reports as well asverbal updates.
• As a team member be extremely proactive in problem solving, lab performance, and identification of equipment or lathing issues.
• Use simple hand tools to perform adjustment operations.
• Train new employees or cross-train current employees.

Analytical Skills. (10%)

• Operate, enter data, and retrieve data into electronic devices such as computers, scanners, and HMI control panels.
• Interpret equipment performance and apply corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Exhibits good communication skills verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language
• Adheres to SOPs and Regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of DAC ALM lathing and calibration metrology equipment required
• Intermediate skill in the use of Excel, Word and shop floor systems. Advanced level skills preferred
• Ability to read and understand technical material and instruction.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and government regulatory officials.
• Sound foundation in mechanical principles.

Work Environment:

• Work a 12-hour shift schedule to support 24/7 automated operations.
• Works scheduled holidays and overtime as necessary in order to maintain service levels for customers.
• Follows appropriate safety and equipment maintenance procedures.
• Works in a team manufacturing environment .

Experience:

• Minimum of one-year experience as a lathing technician OR Comparable experience with automated manufacturing equipment OR Demonstrated experience in the following areas while manufacturing contact lenses on automated lathe equipment: Successful execution of production schedules to meet customer demands with minimal supervision; adherence to safety protocols; implementation of corrective actions after consulting with engineering maintenance; and basic troubleshooting skills.
• Experience using DAC ALM lathing and calibration metrology equipment required

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Mechanical or Industrial Arts training preferred

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $23.00 and $27.00MID per hour and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
