Job Summary:

In this role, you will be part of the analytical engineering team, performing computational simulations to support the development of new and existing product components, assemblies, and medical devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform MoldFlows (MF), structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of static and dynamic behavior of plastic injection molded components, assemblies, and medical devices.

  • Perform steady state and transient thermal/heat transfer analysis to evaluate effects of temperature on product performance.

  • Perform explicit modeling, drop testing, and conduct fracture and failure analysis of components and assemblies.

  • Identify, investigate, and analyze problems with existing materials, components, and design devise methods and approaches to solve difficult problems by applying knowledge of engineering structures in MF, FEA, and CFD.

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop moldable and structurally stable part designs and to obtain more accurate MF, FEA and CFD analysis results.

  • Support product development in developing effective designs by using Moldflow, FEA, and CFD results to determine moldability, fluids dynamics, and structural deficiencies.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal, external, and cross functional teams to support program objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in plastics, mechanical, or other engineering disciplines.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in CAE 3D modeling knowledge.

  • Minimum 5 years of structural and/or fluids analysis experience.

  • Understanding of mechanical principles to solve classical structural analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to:

  • Prioritize and complete multiple technical projects and daily tasks.

  • Learn and apply new skills.

  • Understand and communicate technical ideas with technical and non-technical audiences (written and verbal)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • CAD experience (preferably Solidworks).

  • Polymer or related material knowledge.

  • Experience developing and executing Moldflow, FEA and CFD simulations (ANSYS, SIMULIA, COMSOL, preferred).

  • Experience with parametric modeling and design of experiments.

  • Experience with elastomer modeling is preferred.

  • Experience with LS-dyna is preferred.

  • Multiphysics simulation experience (fluid-structure) is preferred.

  • GLP and GMP experience preferred.

  • Able to be aware of all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.

  • Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target.

  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times.

  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10 % of the time.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to exert up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Must be able to interpret data, reading or writing, public speaking express or exchange ideas with employees, understand direction and adhere to established procedures.

  • Must be able to own and be held responsible for assigned activities while contributing to a team and collaborating with others across multiple business functions.
