Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Systems Engineer Global Requirements Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO. , area.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
The successful Sr. Principal Systems Engineer / Global Requirements Lead will work under the direction of various technical Leads and interface with team members, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high-quality products are generated on time and within the resources available. This position will provide cross-functional support for requirements management and DOORS administration.
Essential Functions:
Ability to be part of an integrated team tasked with maintaining the physical, functional, and technical requirements baselines necessary to describe the desired capabilities of an evolving BMDS Battle Management, Command & Control, and Communications (C2BMC) effort using the DOORS tool as an experienced administrator.
Experience managing the system and component baselines in a requirements management system.
Defining the relationships between internal and external components.
Communicating the desired component relationships to customers, developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
Generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities.
Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience.
Ability to analyze high-level needs and, through a structured and logical approach, develop requirements management schema and attributes.
Able to implement engineering plans within a project.
Must have the programming skills to generate DXL scripts to provide manipulation of Global DOORS data.
Experience integrating the product lines, generating responsible sections of the capability specifications, DOORS processes and procedures, training less experienced personnel in SE techniques, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts as required.
Experience performing Global DOORS Administration for COS, HSV, and MDIOC. Create modules for these sites and synchronize modules between sites.
Create DOORS reports (e.g., specifications traceability and metrics) and work on user problems (e.g., installation, use of Change Proposal System).
Element Specification (ES) Coordination: conduct C2BMC internal CCB; produce monthly Detailed ES; produce Summary ES for delivery to the government; maintain different formats of ES in DOORS (i.e., Spiral Effectivity and type (Summary, Detailed).
BMD XML Specification Support: (e.g., identified how to use XML to report BMDS status; work technical performance measures (TPMs).
Support initiative to present Global DOORS requirements data via a browser-accessible interface.
Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive DOORS scripting is strongly desired.
Experience improving DOORS database performance is also strongly desired.

Salary Range: $121,000 - $181,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
