The HR Compliance Analyst I is responsible for overseeing payroll, taxation, compliance, and reporting. This includes researching tax laws, reviewing agreements, assisting audits, ensuring compliance, preparing reports, participating in teams, reconciling accounts, and balancing bank accounts. What you\'ll be doing: Research new state and federal taxation laws for review by management. Review changes to collective bargaining agreements, ensuring that processes are reviewed and adjusted to remain in compliance. Assist with annual audit papers and support the 401(k), Finance, and Workers Compensation audits by responding to requests relating to payroll data. Responsible for tax compliance and working with outside vendor to ensure timely and accurate tax payments. Prepare monthly controller report, quarterly time-off report and other reports as requested by the Finance team. Participate on, and in some cases may lead, cross functional teams that manage the planning and administration of various payroll/compensation programs. Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations for payroll/benefit accounts, ensuring that tax payments, garnishments, union dues, etc. remain in balance. Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, paid time off accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management. Serve as the subject matter expert for internal/external payroll compliance and reporting. Responsible for weekly payroll journal entries as well as reclass entries of error handling accounts. Responsible for compliance with payroll related internal controls, maintaining, and improving control documentation of user procedures and payroll processing related to compliance and production. Conduct inspections of employer payroll accounting records using a prescribed number of due diligence tests defined within the audit program. Balance all bank accounts associated with payroll/benefits.
