Ellis Medicine MRI Radiology Technologist in Schenectady, New York

Under the direct supervision of the MRI Senior Technologist and the MRI Medical Director, the MRI Staff Technologist is responsible for the safe operation and performance of diagnostic examinations in accordance with established protocols utilizing the MRI scanner and equipment. Position requires unusual amount of communications and interactions with both patients and professional staff. Independence of action, effective communications, and a high degree of responsibility and integrity are essential to this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Graduate of an approved Radiology Technology school with current ARRT registry and possessing a current New York State license of Radiologic Technology

  • One year ARRT registry in MRI preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • IV certification.

  • Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology and the principles of MRI to safely and efficiently operate MRI scanners, assisting in the diagnosis of disease and injury.

  • Ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors who come in contact with MRI Department ZONES and the powerful magnetic field of a MRI scanner.

  • Explain procedures, answer patients' questions as fully as possible and provide emotional support putting people at ease with claustrophobic and anxious patients.

  • Screen patients.

  • Position patients and use appropriate coils.

  • Guide and monitor patients during scans and pre/posttest inpatients.

  • Recognize and respond to life threatening situations.

  • Assist in the education of other medical professionals and new staff.

  • Track, scan, verify studies and complete all required paperwork associated with such.

  • Monitor PACS for Problem Studies, Call Reports as measure of default when dedicated person unable.

  • Document on requisition needed information.

  • Correct Positioning of patients.

  • Must keep up to date with MRI protocols.

  • Must be able to and willing to rotate out of shift assignments for the greater good of the department, work weekends when scheduled or needed or change of shift when needed.

    Salary Range: $33.71-50.56 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
