The Warehouse Sorter Operator monitors all five conveyor lanes feeding the merge headed to our liquor box trucks on the wine and spirit side of the warehouse.  The Sorter Operator will also be inspecting wave sequence integrity, resolving case jams, and checking for breakage while monitoring the lanes. While operating the sorter, this associate will be monitoring the WCS Monitor at the sorter desk to keep track of wave sequence, the loaders, and the no-read line. The Sorter Operator is also required to send an hourly productivity report to all leaders.

Qualifications

  • Must be18 years or older

  • Six months of experience in a similar position strongly preferred

  • Experience in operating a pallet jack, forklift, and other power equipment preferred

    Responsibilities

  • Start the system each day 30 minutes before the shift begins, making sure that all mechanical and software functions are working properly

  • Begin each day by communicating the volume to the different segments by P.A.

  • Accurately communicate with each loader via the P.A. system - informing them of the last wave closeout for each truck

  • Accurately use the Company’s logistics management system to make sure all cases are accounted for and in wave sequence

  • Ensure all loads are properly closed out and the milk tray or sticker is on the correct case

  • Identify damages and safely, ensuring the clean-up of spills

  • Safely operate the conveyor line and properly shut it down in case of an emergency

  • Report or communicate any safety, software, or mechanical problems to the proper management

  • Conduct operations and maintain the facility in a neat, clean, orderly, and safe manner

    Physical Requirements and Essential Functions

  • Regular, reliable attendance required

  • Able to frequently operate a pallet jack and/or forklift if assigned

  • Able to stand and walk, reach with arms and hands, lift and carry, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel

  • Able to perform greater than average lifting (50-65 lbs) with some overhead lifting required

  • Must have specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision and the ability to judge distance
