Warehouse Area Managers manage a team of warehouse associates, ensuring that all product is correctly and efficiently stocked and rotated, to include managing product availability and receipt, and ensuring product is available and customer orders are completed each night.  Area Managers train new associates on the requirements of the job including but not limited to quality control, product knowledge, product rotation, proper picking, Company policies, procedures and using United’s computer systems.  Successful Area Managers are self-motivated, communicative and thrive in work environments requiring collaboration, team work, interpersonal skills and managing conflict.  

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university; or High School Diploma or GED plus three (3) or more years related experience in transportation, delivery, or warehouse

  • Prior experience in and an understanding of Warehouse and Warehouse operations

  • Able to learn and maintain knowledge of company and products

  • Working knowledge of computerized hand-held devices

    Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of warehouse associates overseeing proper product inventory, staging, rotation, breakdown, replenishment, returns, order fulfillment and quality control.  Work with team as necessary to meet nightly goals

  • Train, develop, evaluate and motivate team to foster the success of individual contributors and overall team success

  • Define expectations and monitor progress 

  • Analyze needs; assign work and projects as needed

  • Maintain productivity; ensure volume, goals and new programs are met

  • Manage time and attendance, performance and discipline

  • Investigate problems and set a course to correct issues.

  • Responsible for overseeing team, ensuring safe performance of duties

  • Hold regular team meetings

  • Forecast staffing needs

  • Additional duties may apply depending on area of responsibility in warehouse

  • Additional hours required during the peak seasons

    Working Conditions

  • A ble to maintain very high proficiency and job standards while working in a non-temperature controlled environment that includes exposure to heat, high humidity, and inclement weather

  • Able to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels and some dust and fumes from power equipment

    Physical Requirements and Essential Functions

  • Regular, reliable attendance required

  • Able to frequently operate a pallet jack and/or forklift

  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, lift and carry, push and pull, bend and stoop, reach with arms and hands, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel

  • Able to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination

  • Able to stack, unstack and relocate large amounts of product throughout the work period

  • Able to perform repeated lifting up to 50-65 lbs, with some overhead lifting required

  • Must have specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision and the ability to judge distance
