Position Purpose:
The Final Line Mechanic I is responsible for installing parts and components, such as aircraft structure parts, systems lines, cables, and associated hardware. This role ensures that all installations meet the required specifications, functionality, and quality standards through final inspection. The mechanic will work in a team-oriented environment, utilizing tools, equipment, and technical knowledge to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Aircraft Assembly and Installation:
Assemble, install, and adjust various aircraft parts and system components, including control cables, sectors, linkages, control surfaces, landing gear, doors, engines, cowls, aircraft entry doors, and associated hardware.
Linkage and Component Replacement:
Remove, replace, cut, and fit system lines, linkages, sectors, components, and associated hardware as necessary to facilitate repairs or modifications.
Quality Control and Conformance:
Ensure that all installations meet the required specifications and quality standards.
Perform necessary rework or adjustments to ensure that the parts/assemblies meet conformity standards before final inspection.
System Line Installation:
Install system lines, valves, ducts, and associated parts and hardware, ensuring that systems are leak-free and functioning as intended.
Use of Tools and Equipment:
Operate a variety of tools and equipment, including permaswage pumps, dies, line cutting tools, wrenches, checking tools, witness gauges, etc., to complete component installations and perform minor structural installations.
Repair and Fitting:
Remove and replace, cut, and fit system lines, panels, structural components, and associated hardware necessary for basic repairs or modifications.
Log and Record Maintenance:
Update and sign all required logs and records, including MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs, and other necessary documentation.
Self-Inspection:
Conduct self-inspection of work to ensure defect-free installations before final inspection, identifying and correcting any discrepancies.
Work Area Maintenance:
Maintain a neat and orderly work area, supporting the company's FOD (Foreign Object Debris) and 5S programs.
Comply with all safety regulations and ensure proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Employee Competency:
Demonstrate Company Manufacturing competencies in the employee effectiveness review.
Continuous Improvement:
Support continuous improvement initiatives and processes as assigned to enhance operational efficiency.
Additional Functions:
Aircraft Certification and Testing:
In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may assist in flight tests on aircraft as required.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned to meet team and company goals.
Other Requirements:
Technical Experience:
At least 1 year of aerospace or aviation experience, or equivalent mechanical experience (e.g., auto mechanics, heavy equipment, etc.).
An A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license may offset the one year of experience requirement.
Blueprints and Diagrams:
Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical documentation to complete installations and repairs.
Mechanical Skills:
Ability to perform basic mechanical work, including drilling, reaming, ship fitting parts, and using necessary tools for aircraft component assembly.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and work in small, restricted spaces.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required for parts handling and installations.
Computer Literacy:
Experience with Solumina and Smarteam systems is preferred for record-keeping and documentation management.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: At least 1 year of relevant aerospace/aviation experience or equivalent mechanical experience (auto mechanics, heavy equipment, etc.).
An A&P license can substitute for the required experience.
Work Environment:
- This position involves working in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment, often with the need to handle heavy equipment and aircraft parts. The work requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and consistent performance to meet deadlines and quality expectations.
Pay Details: $25.66 per hour
