This position is responsible to assist the Safety department on a temporary basis (12-14 weeks). Minimum Qualifications: As a successful Safety Coordinator you will have: 1.High school diploma or general education degree or 2.Six months of related experience or 3.Equivalent combination of education and experience 4.Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card, and acceptable driving record. Duties & Responsibilities 1.Conducts safety audits/inspections to identify hazards and evaluate safe operations and processes. 2.Assist in planning, implementing, and coordinating the company's safety programs and policies. 3.Assist in preparing written safety and health programs and policies. 4.Facilitates and participates in company training requirements. 5.Maintain safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals, etc.) 6.Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, specific training programs. 7.Assist as necessary in implementation of hazardous communication program and help maintain SDS's. 8.Facilitates and participates in company safety committees. 9.Understand federal and state safety regulations. (OSHA, MSHA, DOT) 10.Facilitates and assist in providing technical support to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state safety regulations. (OSHA, MSHA, DOT) 11.May assist with lost time injuries/illnesses, worker's compensation, general lability, auto liability claims. 12.Prepare, reviews, and records weekly safety meeting, safety inspection reports, and follows up as necessary. 13.Establishes, develops, maintains, and updates filing system for the safety department. Retrieves information from files when needed. 14.Interpret laws, new and old, and use these laws in communication, training, and enforcement. 15.May assist with inspections, OSHA inspections, MSHA inspections, public safety complaints, and insurance. 16.May assist with random drug testing, hearing tests, and silica surveillance exams. 17.Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others. 18.Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems as they relate to safe work practices. 19.Frequently working in an environment with: Talking, hearing. Occasionally working in an environment with: Stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, loud noises, and need for accommodation, color vision, depth perception, and need for near and far acuity. 20.Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record under Company policy. 21.Performs other duties as assigned.
