As a library assistant for our Selby Library, you will stand as the direct point of contact for customers, resolving routine questions, or problems, and referring more complex issues when necessary. About the Position

In this role you will serve as the primary point of contact, offering exceptional customer service to county customers and citizens through contact and responses. Key responsibilities can include resolving routine questions or problems, administration, collection development/maintenance , and staff development.   • Implement standards of service that ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each inquiry by customers.

  • Provide assistance at all library service locations and stations.

  • Offer directional and service-related information to users.

  • Assist library users in person, by phone, or electronically.

  • Serve in material checkout/check-in, retrieve and process reserves, billing, and missing items.

  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.

  • Sort and shelve materials and maintain an orderly arrangement of materials.

  • Aid in operating and basic troubleshooting of automated materials check-in, emptying and swapping materials bins, and routine maintenance.

About the Schedule

Work Hours:

  • Part-Time, 20 hours per week.

  • Must be available, Monday - Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

  • Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc .

Osprey Library Hours of Operation:

  • Monday - Thursday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

  • This location is closed on Fridays and Sundays , however this is subject to change.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.

Preferred ("Bonus") Qualifications:

  • One or more year(s) of experience in a clerical or customer service environment, preferably in a library setting.

  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Physical Demands: This position must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Employees can use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50(+) lbs.
