Sarasota County Government Facilities Planning Project Manager III/ IV in Sarasota, Florida

Do you have a strong background in construction project management? In this role, you are responsible for recommending policies, developing project goals, as well as overseeing contractors, and working with engineers during the design and construction phase throughout the close-out of projects. These construction projects are for the preservation, renovation, and improvements of all county-owned and leased facilities. Apply today!

  • Plan, organize, assign, review, and evaluate the work of contractors, vendors, and support staff.

  • Work with Architects, Engineers, and maintenance staff to ensure appropriate construction documents are prepared to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as industry and ADA standards.

  • Inspect and coordinate construction with telecommunication, electrical, mechanical, security, and all other team members to deliver a turnkey project.

  • Prepare technical bid documents, schedules, and correspondence for construction projects.

  • Evaluate service, engineering, and contractor proposals and perform project management functions.

  • Seek innovative products, methods, and technology for Facilities construction and maintenance of assets.

  • Prepare, administer, and control assigned budgets.

  • Conduct daily on-site facility inspections to assess construction progress and needs.

  • Ensure that the design consultants meet all technical and contractual requirements.

  • Supervise all purchasing activities including the submittal of purchase requisitions.

  • Create scope of work documents, interact with customers and consultants to address questions, relieve concerns, and resolve complaints to ensure that all customers are provided with prompt, courteous, and high-quality service.

  • Act as liaison and consultant to various groups, agencies, and other County departments.

  • Monitors project schedule and adjusts as necessary to ensure projects are completed on time.

  • Ensures all permitting and project files are maintained, punch-list items are complete, lien waivers and a certificate of occupancy have been obtained.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (*Flexible)

About You

Tier III - Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field AND five (5) years experience in project management or capital improvement project management.

  • -OR- Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field AND four (4) years experience in project management or capital improvement project management.

  • -OR- Project experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis depending on the type of experience.

  • A valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.

Tier IV - Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field AND seven (7) years experience in project management or capital improvement project management.

  • -OR- Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field AND six (6) years experience in project management or capital improvement project management.

  • -OR- Project experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis depending on the type of experience.

  • A valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.

    CJIS Clearance: **The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.

About Everything ElsePay Ranges by Tier:

  • Tier III $71,000.00 - $86,000.00 , based on your experience.

  • Tier IV $80,000.00 - $103,000.00 , based on your experience.
